5. i-Mode for business:
5.1 i-Mode and business applications:
i-Mode is primarily consumer driven and a large part of mobile phone purchases in Japan are private personal purchases. Nevertheless mobile phones in Japan are used much for organizing business life, such as scheduling, planning and booking air and train travel.
5.2 Intranets, VPNs and security:
Japanese i-Mode phones can be linked to VPN services in the same way as computer terminals can. In addition, mobile phones allow a range of security tools such as terminal IDs, finger print sensors, face recognition etc. built into the phone.
