Software sector in Japan - main trends:
Japan is a major power in the global software industry, focusing mainly on embedded and industrial software. While there are many packaged software companies in Japan, these have not achieved global success. An example for a Japanese embedded software success story is TRON, a real-time operating system used in many industrial embedded applications, such as elevators and washing machines. Japan's earlier generations of mobile phones used a mobile/handheld version of TRON. Generally speaking, there is an undersupply of skilled software engineers in Japan.
Success stories:
- For a major global investment company analyzed software for mobile phones industrial sector, including analysis of selected companies producing software for mobile phones.
- Our CEO has developed many software packages including software to simulate and visualize electron motion in electronic devices and nano-devices. The results produced by this software were awarded the 2nd Prize in the Computer Visualization contest of the Computer Graphics Society of Japan.
